INTRODUCTION
This is Peter Harries' latest venture.
In September 2007, Colin Nuttall of Hollywood Limousines suggested that I register my newly acquired Ford Fairlane Ghia as a Small Charter Vehicle. I did so and later, fellow entertainer Don King told me that he had been driving for various Limo Companies for some years. This led to my establishment of
K KLUB KARS & Don became Operations Manager in March 2008.
Don drives my White Ford Fairlane K KLUB 1 (Grace) doing mainly Airport Transfers for Quicksilver Limousines.
In February 2008 I purchased a White Klassic Ford LTD 6-7 seat Limousine K KLUB 2 (Marilyn) which is in regular service for Weddings, School Balls and other special functions requiring punctual, luxury transportation. I have now installed a twin screen karaoke system - Great Fun!
After registration of my Burgundy XJ6 Jaguar (Deborah) as K KLUB 3, Don drove that vehicle, doing sub-contract work for Limousines Australia and L.A. Limousines.
During the past 6 months, my Jet Black with Cream Upholstery Vintage Statesman Stretch (Sophia) K KLUB 4 has been converted to the Honeymoon De Luxe De Ville designed for romantic evening excursions or carriage for The Bride and Groom leaving receptions.
Recently, I purchased a luxurious Snow White Lexus LS 430 (Michiko) K KLUB 5, to service the prestige market. My drivers include David Cowan (my Grandson-in-Law) and Ern Johnson, (well-known former public relations business partner of Channel 7’s Jeff Newman).
In 1972 I bought into the failed La Riviera Night Club in Como.
The first night 9 February, we (entertainment partner Kelly Green,
business partner Gavin Worth, Ed Peters [Pithers] the keyboard player,
drummer Carter Edwards, Anne Peters, Chris Karels the lady cook and
Carol Hannah the bar-lady) sat outside next to the fountain to chat
and wait. At 9.30 I said “Well! It doesn’t look as though anyone is
coming, let’s go home!.”
Six weeks later (through advertising and the fact that I was on Channel 9 every week, using every opportunity
to “flog” the new Knight Klub Night Club) we had our first ‘Full House”.
Having my first drink of the night with Ed Peters I jokingly remarked, “What about this Ed? I’d have to be the King of Clubs wouldn’t I?” He replied “You’re one better than that Mate! You’re the Ace of Klubs!.”
It stuck and for the first time in my life I had a real nick-name.
To my friends from the Knight Klub days, I am still The Ace!
